| The brief encompassed the successful integration of key factors such
as maintaining correct transducer location with appropriate pressure,
ease of application and removal, comfort, cleanliness and a friendly non-clinical
look. Using anthropometric ear and head data together with analysis of several
head gear mock-ups as a foundation, Designology developed a design using
soft elastomer parts for adjustability, comfort, fit and ruggedness. The
use of flexible components allowed for simple adjustment features. Once
fitted by the audiologist, the head gear needs no further adjustment and
is easily worn by the user. Original parts count was reduced by 50% with further significant reductions
in tooling, parts and assembly costs. The overall aesthetic of the project is primarily based
upon its function and level of comfort. The resulting soft forms and clean
elliptical geometry promotes a sense of functional ruggedness and a friendly
        'non-apparatus' look. |
